Design and publish your Web site
When you pair up professional designs and our content management system page editing tools, the result is a very fast way to create and publish web pages, including navigational menus created on the fly as you build and organize your site. You can create or delete pages, arrange pages multiple levels deep, set permissions for viewing and/or editing and even assign pages to specific groups.

To get started, choose from hundreds of ready-to-go professional designs and use as is – or adapt one of our designs with your own personalized touches. If you prefer, you can even create a design from scratch – without having to learn or write code – by making a series of selections that fit your content best.

Adding links, images, tables and even forms to capture information requires no special web skills either. Just use the toolbar found in the editor, which is similar to the toolbar in any word processing application. For those with html code experience, you’ll find comfort knowing that you can view and edit in source view. For those who prefer to see the page as they work, you’ll find comfort knowing the page editor defaults to this view.

Many sites have content that can be used on multiple pages—advertising an upcoming event, for example. The Content Panels manager allows you to create ‘panels’ once and place them on as many pages within your site as you like. Altrue also offers global panels that provide content from leading information sources in the non-profit, faith based and News sectors.

Send, receive and manage emails
So much of our daily communication now depends on email and other electronic media. Altrue offers Web-based email, so you can check, send and manage your email account from any Internet-enabled computer.

Altrue email includes support for signatures and identities to help you save time; spam and filtering tools to help keep your inbox clean; an online address book so you have your contacts handy any time you log into your email; email search to track down a specific topic or message; vacation and mail forwarding settings for when you’re away; and a built-in RSS reader to keep up with topics you find important.

Store and share photos and other media files
With online file storage included with all accounts, you can upload and store images, documents and other media files for access anywhere and any time. In “My Files”, you can upload or delete multiple files at one time, preview files, organize files within folders and also link your files to your web pages.

For advanced audio and video streaming like live feeds or expansive libraries, a third-party provider is required. Altrue's Media Manager allows you to manage a third-party account from within your Control Panel.

Get to know your visitors
Polls, discussion groups and special requests are great ways to find out more about your visitors and enlist them to help in your mission. In addition to these tools, Altrue also enables you to use third-party analytics or statistics services within Altrue. If you’re not currently using analytics to see where, how and what time your visitors are hitting your site – looking at these statistics will make you feel like you just discovered gold in your back yard!

Manage your account, billing preferences and site statistics
All your account information is stored within your account, making it easy for you to update when needed. The Account Manager also allows you to designate or change how you pay your invoices and view or upgrade the services you are currently subscribed to.

You can also keep track of visitor usage through the Statistics Manager or other third-party Analytics software and services. For example, if you already have a Google Analytics account, linking the two is as easy as entering your Google ID and password into your account.

Control access to visitors, colleagues and other site contributors
With Altrue, you have the tools to secure any pages on your site from public view. You can also limit page views to certain audiences through multiple layers of permissions available. This enables you to customize your site so visitors can quickly access the information they’re interested in without scouring the entire web site.

If you have more than one Web site contributor, assigning contributors to specific pages is easy through permissions. Setting up virtual editing zones by departments or ministries, for example, is a great way to keep everybody engaged without losing control of your web site.

Manage communication with site visitors, colleagues and groups
Working with the People and Communication Manager, the Group Manager brings all your visitors’ and members’ interests together into groups to make targeted communication (like e-mails) easy to handle. It’s also a great tool for setting up protected areas on your site and creating editing zones for your Web publishing team.

Plan and share event information and calendars
Create and share details about upcoming events with the Event Manager in Altrue. Adding scheduled or unscheduled events is easy and can also be linked back to people and groups. Keep track of event dates, times and details.

Organize your own library on the Web
Create searchable, cross-referenced libraries of anything — people, skills, newsletters, even sermon notes or job openings. The Resource Manager is the perfect tool for managing information – from a list of people available to help in certain labor specialties to a list of resources on the web and anything in between.

Set up event registration and an online store front
If your church or non-profit organization hosts events or conferences that require registration, the Store Manager can enable participants to register online and even choose which sessions at the event they want to attend. No more faxing out applications and shuffling stacks of paper.

The Store Manager also enables you to create an online presence where books, CDs, shirts or other items can be paid for online and shipped. Create a searchable catalog of products on your site with six payment gateways to choose from, including Paypal and Verisign Payflow Pro. (Separate agreement with payment gateways required.)

Advanced options like page source code, javascript, and metatags
Advanced designers and programmers find Altrue to be a good blend of keeping things simple without hindering the possibilities. Editing in source view, for example, is available in the Page Editor by changing the view. If you’re comfortable with inserting javascript code, object and embed tags for SWF’s and other media types, Altrue allows you to do so.

Many designers and programmers are comfortable with maintaining a site’s metadata, primarily used by search engines. Altrue offers access to the head area so this can be easily edited as needed. Of course, if editing metadata is not your cup of tea, but landing in search engine results is – we offer a Search Engine Optimization service where you’ll get the search engine benefits without ever seeing a line of code.
